Evanston, IL – Asahi Kasei Medical Co., Ltd. and TechniKrom, Inc. today announced that they have entered into a collaborative agreement. TechniKrom will offer its bioprocess engineering, fabrication, and qualification services to supply automated viral filtration skids and Asahi Gold Particle integrity test systems to Asahi’s 1m2 and 4m2 Planova® virus removal filter end users. TechniKrom has a worldwide installed base of validated downstream processing equipment in cGMP process development and manufacturing sites. “This collaboration with Asahi, well-known in the industry for supplying the highest quality virus removal filters, is a perfect fit for our expanding portfolio of innovative downstream processing equipment to support our continuing efforts to drive down the costs of manufacturing for biotherapuetics,” said TechniKrom President and founder, Lou Bellafiore. Planova® filters have been successfully implemented in the commercial production of over 100 biotherapeutic drug products, and the Asahi Gold Particle Test (AGPT) is a novel, post-use, colloidal particle integrity test on the Planova® filter to confirm membrane pore distribution. “We are pleased to partner with a leading company like TechniKrom to enable Asahi to meet the growing demand for automated and validated equipment to support the Planova® filters,” said Asahi General Manager Katsunori Horikoshi.
